Project Description

The expansion and addition to West Salem High School increases educational opportunities, safety and security, and provides more space.

Among the highlights are a new three-story classroom wing with 20 general classrooms, expanded Career and Technical Education and a new Black Box Theater. A sizable addition was added to the Commons, and the Athletic Center was renovated. The Athletic Center received expanded girls and boys locker rooms, a training room, larger athletic offices, a conference room and additional storage space.

Some existing first floor classrooms were converted into two modern science labs and the music programs received additional storage and classroom space. In addition, a 100-space parking lot was added near Doaks Ferry Road.

The new athletic wing, the expanded Commons and the new classroom wing were all attached to the existing building. The classroom wing was built on a radius on a terraced hillside, adding complexity to the construction process.

The new athletic wing opened in September 2022. The remaining expansion concluded before school began in fall 2023.

This is one of four recent projects Todd has built for the Salem-Keizer School District. The company also built the Gaffin Transportation Center and renovated Judson Middle School and South Salem High School.
