Project Description

Large timber beams from a former prominent local sawmill accent the Pioneer Center in Klickitat County, Washington, as an acknowledgment of the community’s history.

The building’s design with the large timbers over the entryway and the cultured stone columns gives the building a lodge-style atmosphere.

Klickitat County officials chose to locate the building in White Salmon, so residents wouldn’t have to travel to Goldendale for services. Among those services in the 22,000-square-foot building are Senior Services and a senior center with a full-service kitchen, dining room and rec room. Residents can also use the West End Annex Services to get help with building permits or property taxes.

Also housed in the building are county health services, a sheriff’s office branch office, meeting rooms, and personnel offices.
