Project Description
Nursing students enrolled in George Fox University can now receive training in a facility that simulates a hospital at the college’s Portland Center.
Students enrolled in the program are working toward their Doctor of Nursing Practice or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. The college plans to use the facility for programs granting credentials as Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse Midwife.
Todd Construction renovated 10,725 square feet on the first floor of the center into an Advanced Practice Nursing Simulation Lab.
The building includes simulation labs dedicated to pre-op, operating, intensive care, maternity exams, birthing and clinic care.
There are also rooms simulating behavioral health clinics and for debriefing. Offices, restrooms, equipment storage, and a green room are also included on the first floor.
The lab is similar to the one Todd Construction renovated previously on the university’s main Newberg campus, Roberts Nursing Center.
That facility simulates a clinic setting while this one simulates a hospital.
